Write, shoot,
edit.
Carrot Studio is an audiovisual production association born at Lycée Louis Bascan, a state secondary school in Rambouillet, about fifty kilometres south-west of Paris. Fiction, documentary, live recordings, every project is carried from location scouting all the way to release.
What we do
We make our own short films, projects for our school film studies programme, commissioned work and photography.
The association came together at Lycée Louis Bascan, in Rambouillet, France, within the school film studies programme. We needed a group for our first assignment, and that is how we ended up making our very first short film, Archive 136.
We also do photography: shoots, rehearsals, stage performances or events. When an association, a company or a school needs photographs rather than a film, we can take that on as well, with the same care. For a single event, however, we choose one or the other, so that we can give our full attention to the quality.
Writing, location scouting, shooting schedules, filming, sound recording, editing, colour grading, encoding, release. Each member moves between several roles rather than staying on one, because it teaches more and because at our scale there is no other way. We take care over the image, the sound and the grade.
We also record concerts and stage performances for the associations that ask us. Those are not published on this site, but they are part of our regular work.

Two principles
We wait neither for the right camera nor for ideal conditions. Each film is a chance to get better at one role, and the next one at another.
A personal fiction film and a video for the school deserve the same demands on framing, sound and editing.
